Blackcurrant Root
As you know, the leaves and buds of black currant contain flavonoids, mineral salts, coloring and tannins, carboxylic acids, essential oil, ascorbic acid and carbohydrates. The same substances are found in the root system and branches of black currant.
A decoction of blackcurrant roots is used in folk medicine as an astringent. Tinctures and extracts prepared from the roots, buds and bark of currant branches are used for transmitted infections, whooping cough, bronchitis, as well as as a diaphoretic and diuretic for diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract.
