Blackcurrant Seed Oil (Blackcurrant seed oil)
Blackcurrant seed oil is obtained by pressing.
The pressed oil has an intense yellow color and a characteristic smell. However, through subsequent filtration and refining, it becomes lighter, and the intensity of the smell decreases.
Refined blackcurrant seed oil is highly valued in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries due to its high content of gamma-linolenic acid, also called GLA. For dermatological purposes, it is used: to treat and prevent the development of eczema; to soften and moisturize dry, flaky and irritated skin; for hormone-dependent skin problems such as acne; to restore the barrier (protective) function of the skin.
In addition to external use, black currant oil can be consumed internally as a source of natural acids, including essential fatty acids omega-6 and omega-3, as well as acids: tartaric, phosphoric, succinic, citric, malic, ascorbic, salicylic and nicotinic.
