Chinese Lemongrass leaves

For medicinal purposes, fruits, seeds, roots, bark and leaves of Chinese lemongrass are used. The leaves of the lemongrass are light green, pointed, with red petioles; they exude a lemon aroma. For the production of flavonoids, they are collected in the budding phase, and for the production of mucus - during leaf fall.
For the purpose of drying, the leaves of the lemongrass are cut and spread on a cloth or on paper. Then they are kept in the shade for a few days, and then poured into paper bags and so stored.
It is believed that decoctions, tinctures and tea made from lemongrass leaves have a milder effect than fruits.
