Corn syrup

Corn syrup is made from corn starch. It is often used in cooking as a sweetener and thickener.

The peculiarity of corn starch is that it does not sugar and does not retain moisture in the mass of the product, so the products where corn syrup is added have a more delicate texture, rich taste and fresh appearance.

Corn syrup can be light and dark. In the food industry, light corn syrup is mainly used, since the syrup is less refined, contains specific additives and is close to molasses in consistency.

In North America, corn syrup is a cheap alternative to cane sugar in the manufacture of sweets and soft drinks.
