German national dishes: traditions and new trends

Speaking of German national dishes, first of all it is necessary to clarify that we are talking about a huge number of recipes that have nothing to do with the famous sauerkraut.

While in cities located near the coast, the Germans are more happy to eat fish and crabs (although in fact they are North sea prawns), the inhabitants of the South prefer meat and sausages.

Unfortunately, we must admit that the original version of many national dishes clearly shows a tendency to "satiety", and this is also why potatoes are most often served as a warm side dish!

Nevertheless, today in the gastronomic palette of Germany there is both a hearty home-made food, and modern "Lite" national dishes.
