Herring roe

As a culinary product, herring roe is very popular in Japan. Here it is served directly in the yastyk or prepared from it a kind of" sandwich " on brown algae. As for the holidays, for the New Year, the Japanese give each other "kazu-nu ko" (herring roe) of a special, symbolic form. At the same time, it is believed that the more eggs are contained in the caviar, the greater the wealth will come to the gifted person.

In Russia, until recently, herring caviar was often neglected: it was thrown away along with the waste after gutting the herring carcass. However, now the Russians have come to the conclusion that herring caviar can also be used to prepare various side dishes (for example, for potatoes), salads and fillers for sandwiches or toast. For example, to make a delicious mass of herring caviar, it is released from the yastyk, kneaded with a fork, mixed with vegetable oil, chopped onions and vinegar, and then cooled.
