Herring with vegetable and mushroom garnish

→ SALTED HERRING
→ HARD-BOILED EGGS
→ TOMATOES
→ BOILED POTATOES
→ BOILED BEETROOT
→ BOILED CARROTS
→ CUCUMBERS
→ ONION-TURNIP
→ GREEN ONION
→ GHERKINS
→ CAPERS
→ MUSTARD HERRING DRESSING OR OIL AND VINEGAR HERRING DRESSING

Prepared and placed on a plate or in a tray, herring can be garnished with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, gherkins, salted mushrooms (pears, blackberries, belyanki, redheads), boiled beets, potatoes, carrots, onions or green onions, capers and boiled eggs.

All side dishes should be finely chopped or beautifully cut into circles, slices or cubes.

Lay the side dish should be symmetrical on both sides of the herring. Onions should be put on top of the herring rings.

Before serving, the herring and garnish are poured with dressing (see the recipes "Mustard dressing for herring", "Dressing for herring from oil and vinegar").
