For medicinal purposes, not only the fruits of sea buckthorn are used, but also its leaves, branches, bark and seeds. The oil obtained from the pulp of sea buckthorn fruits has a bright orange color, and from the seeds – yellowish.

The composition of the first and second types of sea buckthorn oil differ. Fruit pulp oil contains up to 0.350% of carotene and carotenoids, thiamine and riboflavin, a fairly large amount (0.165 %) of tocopherol and a significant amount of vitamin F, which regulates the skin's metabolism. Oil from sea buckthorn seeds is considered less useful, since it does not contain carotenoids. However, it also has linolenic acid, which has an anti-sclerotic effect on the body.
It is not difficult to get oil from sea buckthorn seeds at home. To do this, use the cake remaining after squeezing the juice from the fruit. The cake must be additionally thoroughly suppressed, and then pour it with refined vegetable oil heated to 50 degrees – sunflower, olive, corn, sesame, rapeseed-so that the oil barely covers it. Mix everything well, then insist for a week at room temperature in a dark place.
Once a day, the mixture should be thoroughly mixed with a wooden spoon. As a result, sea buckthorn oil will gradually dissolve in the vegetable oil used. At the end of the week, mix the mixture well again, and then filter through two layers of gauze and squeeze through the same gauze.
It is best to store the prepared oil from sea buckthorn seeds in a dark, cool place.
